Best Hotels in Jodhpur: Where to Stay in Each Area 2026

12 June 2026 · 8 min read

They call it the Blue City. And when you look out from Mehrangarh Fort over the mass of rooftops below you, you understand why: indigo, cobalt, sky blue, all blending together. The blue facades were once reserved for Brahmins; today all of Old Jodhpur carries that color. It makes the city the most photogenic in Rajasthan.

But Jodhpur is more than a photo backdrop. It has the best meat cuisine in Rajasthan, a dense network of spice markets, and havelis converted into intimate boutique hotels. Where you stay determines how much of all that you can reach on foot.

Which Neighborhood Fits Which Travel Style?

Jodhpur divides into four main zones:

Old City near Mehrangarh: Inside the Blue City

The heart of Jodhpur. The narrow lanes around Mehrangarh Fort are lined with small blue houses, spice shops spill onto the street, and children play on rooftops with fortress views. Staying here means waking up to the call to prayer and reaching the fort gate in ten minutes.

Price range: 15-80 euros per night.

Top picks here: Pal Haveli is a restored 450-year-old city palace right on the main lane, the rooftop terrace offers the best fort view in the city. Inn Season Haveli combines authentic architecture with excellent breakfast. Raas Jodhpur is the premium option in this segment, a modern boutique hotel within an old haveli compound with a pool.

One note for old city hotels: vehicle access with luggage is only possible by rickshaw or on foot for many properties, as the lanes are too narrow for cars. Hotels typically arrange a luggage transfer from the nearest accessible point.

A bit further east, things get more lively and less touristy. Sadar Bazaar is one of the best markets in Rajasthan: textiles, jewelry, spices, leather goods. The area around Navchokiya has cheaper accommodation than the old city but a similar atmosphere.

Price range: 10-50 euros per night.

Worth considering: Cosy Guest House is a family-run guesthouse with a rooftop terrace and good food. Haveli Inn Pal is close to the market with clean, simple rooms. Shahi Guest House offers fortress views at very fair prices.

Residency Road and Raikabagh: Modern and Relaxed

For travelers who want quieter nights or arrive by rental car, the more modern neighborhoods south of the old city offer a good selection. Hotels here often have parking, swimming pools and larger rooms.

Price range: 30-120 euros per night.

Good options: WelcomHeritage Bal Samand Lake Palace (around 8 km outside) sits on a historic lake and is the best resort for couples without budget constraints. Hotel Karni Bhawan is a former royal palace with generous rooms and gardens. Indra Vilas is a solid mid-range hotel in a modern style.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Jodhpur?

October to March is ideal. Temperatures sit between 15 and 30 degrees, perfect for exploring the city and visiting the fort. April to June is brutally hot, reaching 45 degrees, and is overwhelming for most visitors. The monsoon from July to September brings fewer tourists and a vibrant atmosphere, but intense heat and occasional flooding.

The Rajasthan Tourism website highlights October for the Rajasthan International Folk Festival, held annually at Mehrangarh Fort.

Heritage Havelis: The Real Rajasthan

Jodhpur has an impressive density of converted noble residences. For an even deeper dive into historic Rajasthan, look at Umaid Bhawan Palace: parts of the royal family’s palace are open as hotel wings, with rates from around 300 euros. Spectacular, but not for every budget.

An affordable alternative is Ajit Bhawan, India’s first heritage hotel, with a lovely garden restaurant and traditional pavilions from around 80 euros.

Where Should You Book in the End?

For the full Jodhpur experience, at least one night in an old city haveli near Mehrangarh is worth the logistical effort with luggage. For longer stays, many travelers combine two or three nights in the old city with one night in a quieter hotel on the outskirts.

Booking.com shows all Jodhpur properties on the map, with filters for heritage style, swimming pool and free cancellation. In high season (November to February), the best havelis fill up fast. Book early.
